Tarot Cards
The earliest record of the playing of card games was around the 14th Century. The very early sets of tarot cards where hand painted so very little where created and only the higher class could afford them. After the invention of the printing press by German goldsmith Johannes Gutenberg tarot cards became more affordable and they where produced in larger numbers.
The first instance of tarot in the occult circles came just before the French Revolution by a lady named Alliette. She was a French occultist who worked as a seer and card diviner.
Tarot cards where also known as Triumph Cards. They where used to play the card game Triumph. The game Triumph is a 16th Centry game where each person recieves 5 cards. One card is turned over known as the 'trump' card and the idea is to use that card to win three or more tricks.
